History
Introduced in 1987 as a military/law enforcement version of the 500, the 590 features a heavier barrel, metal trigger guard and safety button, and bayonet lug. The 590A1 variant with heavy-walled barrel and metal parts is the only shotgun to pass the U.S. Army's MIL-S-3443G specification requiring 3,000 rounds fired without a single failure.
