History
Introduced in 1960, the Mossberg 500 series revolutionized pump shotgun design with its aluminum receiver (lighter than steel), dual extractors, twin action bars, ambidextrous top-mounted safety, and anti-jam elevator. Available in more configurations than any other shotgun - field, tactical, cruiser, mariner, persuader, and special purpose variants. By 2021, over 11 million had been produced.
