History

Founded in 1926 by Italian immigrants Costabile and Gianicola Matarazzo in São Paulo, Brazil, CBC (Companhia Brasileira de Cartuchos) has grown to become one of the largest ammunition manufacturers in the world. The company began producing hunting ammunition and expanded massively during World War II, with the Brazilian Army purchasing the entire production. From 1936-1979, Remington Arms and ICI were major shareholders. In 1990, CBC created the Magtech brand specifically for export markets including the United States. Through strategic acquisitions, CBC formed CBC Global Ammunition, acquiring MEN Germany (2007) and Sellier & Bellot Czech Republic (2009). The company produces over 2 billion rounds annually across facilities in Brazil, USA, Germany, Czech Republic, Belgium, and India. CBC's main complex in Ribeirão Pires, São Paulo spans 500 acres with 377,000 square feet of built area. CBC holds Strategic Defense Company status in Brazil and is the primary supplier to Brazilian military and law enforcement. The company is vertically integrated, producing own primers, powder, projectiles, and brass with ISO 9001, AQAP 2110, ISO 37001, and ISO 14001 certifications.
