Krieghoff

H. Krieghoff GmbH

German manufacturer of precision competition shotguns, renowned for Olympic-winning K-80 series and exceptional craftsmanship since 1886.

Country: Germany
Founded: 1886

History

The Krieghoff story began in 1886 when Ludwig Krieghoff and his American partner Sempert founded Sempert & Krieghoff rifle factory in Suhl, Germany. Starting as a modest three-man workshop, the company focused on building fine hunting guns. In 1916 his son, Heinrich, established another firearm manufacturing firm in the same city, and in 1919 the companies merged with the younger Krieghoff at the helm. World War II intervened and operations wouldn't resume until 1950 when only 13 workers began rebuilding the business. The company relocated from Suhl to Ulm. The big break came in 1957, when Krieghoff introduced its first competition shotgun, the K-32, based partly on the Remington Model 32. Don Haldeman won Olympic Gold with the K-32 at the 1976 Montreal Olympics. In 1980 the K-80 was introduced with improved metallurgy, trigger system, and adjustable ribs. In 1986 Krieghoff International was established in the United States by Dieter Krieghoff. Today, Krieghoff shotguns dominate competition shooting worldwide, with numerous Olympic medals and world championships.
