Webley & Scott
Historic Birmingham firearms manufacturer famous for British military revolvers (1887-1964), producing shotguns since 1860s including famous 'Proprietary' boxlocks, restarted shotgun production in 2010.
History
Founded late 18th century by William Davies (bullet moulds), taken over by son-in-law Philip Webley in 1834 who made percussion guns. Philip and brother James started business in Birmingham 1835. In 1897 amalgamated with W&C Scott (founded 1834) becoming Webley & Scott Revolver and Arms Company. Patented first successful sidelock (1860s). Gave up firearms 1979, air guns continued until December 22, 2005. Restarted shotgun production 2010.
