History

L.C. Smith premium grades including Ideal Grade (step up from Field), Crown Grade, and higher ornamental grades. Premium grades featured sidelock actions, elaborate engraving, and premium wood. Specialty grades included Trap, Skeet, and various ornamental grades. Production of any particular high-grade model limited to under 1,000 units. L.C. Smith was first American maker to offer automatic ejectors (1892) and offered non-selective single trigger starting 1904. Available in 8, 12, 16, 20, and .410 gauge (410 added 1926, 8ga dropped 1897, 16ga added 1891, 20ga in 1908).
