History

A.H. Fox premium grade system starting with A Grade (entry premium) through F Grade. D and F grades introduced 1907, XE grade added 1915, G and HE grades added 1922. Each ascending grade featured better wood, more elaborate engraving, and finer fit/finish. Fox guns known for exceptional balance and handling qualities. Available in 12 gauge from 1906, with 16 and 20 gauge added in 1912. Production moved to Utica NY in 1930 after Savage acquisition, ended around 1946 (some parts guns assembled into 1960s). Modern Fox A Grade revived by Connecticut Shotgun Manufacturing for Savage in 2017.
