Smith & Wesson Model 1000
S&W's first and most successful semi-auto, Japanese-made by Howa Machinery.
History
Introduced in 1973 as Smith & Wesson's first semi-automatic shotgun, manufactured by Japanese firm Howa Machinery. Featured barrel lengths of 26", 28", or 30" and proved to be S&W's most successful shotgun venture with over a decade of production (1973-1985). After S&W discontinued the model, Mossberg acquired the design and continued production, testament to the solid design. Available in 12 and 20 gauge with 2¾" and 3" chambers. Represented S&W's successful partnership with Japanese manufacturing.
