History

Introduced in 1977, the Red Label represented Ruger's successful entry into the shotgun market and became a beloved workhorse for American hunters. Initially offered 20 gauge in 1977, added 12 gauge in 1979, and 28 gauge in 1994. Featured stainless steel receiver and was known for exceptional reliability and value. Initially offered with fixed chokes, switched to screw-in chokes in 1988. Production ran from 1977-2011, then was re-released 2013-2015. Represented Ruger's commitment to American craftsmanship at accessible prices.
