Anyone else find their pattern gets a little 'blown out' with 1-1/8 oz loads in a tight choke?

Been shooting a Browning Citori 725 with an IM choke for sporting clays. When I run Federal Top Gun 1-1/8 oz #8 shot at 1200 fps, I feel like I'm getting a slightly wider, less dense pattern past 35 yards compared to 1 oz loads. I've cleaned the choke, so it's not fouling. Just curious if others have noticed this with heavier shot charges.

Yeah, I've seen that happen. With that much shot in an IM, you're pushing a lot of pellets. Sometimes the extra payload can cause a bit more pellet deformation or 'shot stringing,' which spreads the pattern. You might try stepping down to a Modified choke for those 1-1/8 oz loads—it'll keep the density better at distance. Or stick with the IM but use a 1 oz load like the Fiocchi Golden Target. What distance targets are giving you the most trouble?
