Anyone else think the new Federal Top Gun shells pattern tighter than the old ones?

Been shooting sporting clays for about 2 years now, mostly with my Beretta A400 Xcel. I usually run a Modified choke and shoot 1-1/8 oz of #8 shot. Picked up a flat of the new Federal Top Gun shells last weekend and it felt like my breaks were a bit more solid on the longer crossers, like station 7 at my local club. Wondering if anyone else has noticed this or if it's just in my head.

You're not imagining it! I noticed the same thing when I switched over a few months ago. Federal did tweak the wad design in the latest Top Gun run, and it seems to be holding the shot column together a bit longer. For those 35-40 yard crossers, that extra bit of density can definitely give you more consistent breaks. Might be worth trying an Improved Cylinder on the closer stuff though, just to see if you're over-choking now. What velocity are you shooting?
