First NSCA registered shoot coming up - what should I expect?
Just signed up for my first NSCA registered shoot next month. I've only shot at my local club's fun shoots before. I'm using a Beretta A400 Xcel with an Improved Cylinder choke and Federal Top Gun 1-1/8oz #8 loads. Feeling a bit nervous about the whole process.

Welcome to registered shoots! First off, don't stress - everyone was a beginner once. For NSCA, you'll want to show up about an hour early to check in, get your scorecard, and squad up. Your setup sounds solid for a first timer - that A400 with IC choke and #8s will handle most presentations just fine. Pro tip: bring a small stool or bucket to sit on between stations, and pack extra water and snacks. The biggest difference from fun shoots is the pace - squads move together and you'll have a scorekeeper calling targets. What club are you shooting at?
