Just shot my first NSCA registered shoot - how do I know what class they'll put me in?

Shot my first NSCA registered event last weekend at my local club. I've been shooting casually for about 2 years but never competed officially. I shot a 78/100 with my Beretta A400 Xcel using Federal Top Gun 1-1/8oz #8 loads. The squad captain said they'd figure out my classification later, but I'm curious how that actually works.

Welcome to registered shoots! NSCA uses your first 200 targets to establish your initial classification. They'll take those scores and compare them to established averages - that 78/100 is actually pretty solid for a first timer. You'll likely land in D or C class initially, which is perfect for building experience. They'll post it on the NSCA website once processed. What choke setup were you running on that A400?
