First NSCA registered shoot coming up - what should I expect?
I've been shooting sporting clays casually for about 6 months and just signed up for my first NSCA registered shoot next month. Shooting a Beretta A400 Xcel with an IC choke, usually using Federal Top Gun 1-1/8oz #8 loads at 1200fps. I've shot a few local club shoots but never anything "official" - what's different about registered shoots?

Welcome to the fun! Registered shoots are definitely more formal than club shoots - you'll need to check in at registration, get your scorecard, and squad assignments are usually posted. Biggest difference is the scoring: every target is scored as either hit or lost (no half-points), and you'll have a scorekeeper calling the targets. For your setup, I'd suggest trying a Light Modified choke instead of IC - gives you a bit more reach on those longer presentations. What's the name of the shoot you're attending?
