My GSP is creeping on planted birds - how to fix without breaking style?
My 3-year-old German Shorthaired Pointer has started creeping forward when he locks up on planted quail. I've tried the check cord and 'whoa' command, but he still takes a step or two. We're hunting with a Beretta 686 Silver Pigeon, 28" barrels, IC choke. He's solid on wild birds but these planted ones seem to tempt him.

That creeping on planted birds is super common - the lack of movement seems to make them antsy. What worked for my setter was using a remote trainer on the lowest stim setting right when he started that first lean forward, not after he'd already moved. Pair it with a verbal correction so he connects the two. Also, try planting birds that can run a bit - those quail that hunker down are the toughest. Have you tried using pigeons instead? They tend to flutter more and hold the dog's attention better.
