First time pheasant hunter - what's a good choke and load combo?

Just got my first shotgun, a Beretta A300 Outlander 12 gauge. I'm heading out to South Dakota for a pheasant trip next month with some buddies. I've been practicing on clays but want to make sure I'm set up right for the real thing. What choke should I use and what kind of shells?

Good choice on the A300 - solid gun for the field. For pheasants over pointing dogs, I'd start with a Modified choke and 1 1/8 oz of #5 or #6 shot. Federal Premium or Winchester Super-X in 2 3/4" work great. Those birds can be tough, so you want enough pellet count but still good energy at 30-40 yards. Modified gives you a good balance - not too tight for quick shots, but enough pattern density. What's your barrel length on that A300?
