First time pheasant hunter - what's a good choke and load combo for my Beretta A300?

Just got into hunting this year and I'm planning my first pheasant trip in a few weeks. I have a Beretta A300 Outlander with the factory chokes (IC, M, F). I've been practicing with target loads, but not sure what to use for actual birds. I'll be walking fields with a dog, shots will probably be 20-40 yards.

Great setup for a beginner! For pheasants with your A300, I'd start with the Modified choke and a 1-1/4 oz load of #5 or #6 shot. Federal Premium or Winchester Super-X in 12 gauge are solid choices. That combo gives you a good pattern at those typical flushing ranges. The Modified choke is versatile enough if you get a closer shot too. What's your barrel length on that A300?
