Just started sporting clays and rabbits are killing me - any tips?

I'm brand new to sporting clays and have been to my local course twice now. Every time I get to a rabbit station, I just can't seem to connect. I'm shooting a Beretta A300 Outlander with a modified choke, using Federal Top Gun 1-1/8oz #8 shot. The rabbits seem to bounce so unpredictably!

Welcome to the sport! Rabbits are tricky for everyone at first. The key is to keep your head down on the stock and focus on the leading edge of the target, not the whole thing. With that modified choke, you're actually in good shape for rabbits - try shooting just a bit farther out than you think, maybe 15-20 yards instead of trying to break them right off the trap. What station number are you struggling with most? Some courses have rabbits that run on concrete (fast!) versus dirt (slower with more bounce).
