Struggling with those long crossers on Station 8 at my local course
At my club, Station 8 has a true pair where the first target is a long left-to-right crosser at about 45 yards, followed by a closer rabbit. I'm consistently missing the first bird with my Beretta 686 Silver Pigeon using Improved Cylinder. I've tried leading more, but I'm either behind it or over-leading. Using Federal Top Gun 1-1/8oz #8 shot at 1200fps.

That's a classic tough station. First, I'd suggest tightening up that choke - try a Light Modified or even Modified for that distance. At 45 yards, IC is a bit open and your pattern might be thin. On the lead, don't just think 'more' - focus on maintaining your swing speed through the bird. A lot of shooters slow down as they pull the trigger on long targets. What's your foot position like on that stand? Sometimes setting up with a more open stance toward where the bird will be helps maintain that smooth swing.
