Struggling with consistency on long crossers at my local sporting course

There's this station at my club with a 45-yard crossing teal that's giving me fits. I'm shooting a Browning Citori 725 with a Modified choke, using Federal Top Gun 1-1/8oz #8 at 1200fps. I can break it sometimes, but I'm missing more than I should - feels like I'm either behind it or overleading. Anyone else deal with this?

That's a tough target! For a 45-yard crosser, I'd suggest trying a tighter choke - maybe a Full or even an Extra Full if you have one. Those Federal #8s are great for closer stuff, but at that distance, you might want to step up to #7.5s for better pattern density. On the lead, think about maintaining your swing through the target rather than just pointing at it. What's your foot position like on that station?
