Just started American Trap - how much lead do I need at 16 yards?
I'm brand new to trap shooting and just joined a local club. I've been shooting a Beretta A300 Outlander with a Modified choke and Federal Top Gun 1-1/8oz #8 loads. I'm consistently shooting behind the targets at the 16-yard line. How much lead should I be giving these birds?

Welcome to the sport! For 16-yard American Trap with that setup, you're looking at about 2-3 feet of lead on straightaway targets. The key is to focus on the target, not your barrel - mount your gun where you think the target will be and shoot when it gets there. With #8 shot at 1200fps, you've got a good pattern density, so trust your lead and follow through. What station are you having the most trouble with? Station 3 and 5 usually give new shooters fits with the angles.
