Just started American Trap - how much lead should I be giving these targets?
I'm brand new to trap shooting and just joined a local club. I've been shooting a Beretta A300 Outlander with a Modified choke, using Federal Top Gun 1-1/8oz #8 shot at 1200fps. I'm consistently shooting behind the targets at the 16-yard line - they just seem to disappear before I pull the trigger. Should I be using more lead?

Welcome to the sport! That's a classic beginner issue - I did the same thing when I started. For 16-yard American Trap, you don't need as much lead as you might think. Try starting with about 2-3 feet of lead on straightaways and 3-4 feet on hard angles. The key is maintaining that lead through your swing, not just pointing at it. What's your foot position like at the station? That can really affect your swing arc.
